To mark today's World Hunger Day (May 28), we’re spotlighting an episode of the NACCHO Podcast from Washington featuring Kelly Warnock, Nutrition Program Manager at the Durham County Department of Public Health. In this episode, Kelly shares how Durham County is addressing food insecurity—an issue impacting more than 1 in 6 families with children locally.

For nearly a decade, the county has treated food access as a public health priority, building strong partnerships to expand nutrition education and improve access to healthy, culturally relevant foods.

We were honored to present at the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs' annual conference on the power of partnerships. We hosted a networking reception with new and old friends/partners and met as a Steering Committee to align on our 2026 priorities.
