Cultivating Connections: Building Better Food Pathways: How Institutional Purchasing and Local Distribution Can Transform Communities

Join us on Wednesday, December 17, at 3:30 p.m. ET for the Hunger Nutrition and Health Action Collaborative Monthly Webinar Series. Connect with partners across the U.S. dedicated to ending hunger and building healthy communities. This webinar will highlight successful strategies, food and nutrition system changes, multisector partnerships, and community-building efforts.

During this month's partner call, you will learn about how institutional purchasing and local distribution can transform communities. Our panelists include Kashi Sehgal, Founder & CEO of Retzaaza, and Alexa Delwiche, co-founder and executive director of the Center for Good Food Purchasing.

Kashi Sehgal is Founder & CEO of Retaaza, a B Corp focused on fairer food systems by supporting local farmers, reducing food waste, and feeding people experiencing hunger. She started her first company in 2005 and has become a seasoned entrepreneur, building companies and nonprofits in sustainability, education, ethics, technology, economic development, entertainment, homelessness, and more. Kashi has worked with several global, publicly traded corporations running strategy and business development across digital, design, ecommerce, supply chain, and manufacturing. As a consultant, she has worked with government agencies and Fortune 100 companies on organizational development, strategy, and growth. Kashi especially enjoys working with startups, early-stage companies, and nonprofits. She is an advisor, mentor, and investor to entrepreneurs and companies globally and serves as an advisor to a purpose-driven private equity group. Kashi serves on boards such as The Carter Center's Board of Councilors, Gateway Center, Emory University's Center for Ethics, and others in her community.

Alexa Delwiche, co-founder and executive director of the Center for Good Food Purchasing, brings over two decades of experience building more sustainable and equitable food systems. Before the Center, Alexa was the first staff person for the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, serving as Managing Director and Food Policy Coordinator from 2010-2015. At the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, Alexa spearheaded the development, launch, implementation, and national expansion of the Good Food Purchasing Program, which was recognized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Future Council, and IFOAM Organics International in 2018 as one of the eight most comprehensive, multi-faceted food policies to support agroecological food systems in the world. Alexa has also worked for the United Farm Workers and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
